A Spanish Villa Guide to the Ibiza region

Ibiza summary

A villa or apartment holiday in Ibiza has something for the whole family to enjoy. From beautiful beaches and stunning scenery to the renowned nightlife, Ibiza is a popular holiday destination for young and old.

Introducing Ibiza

In recent years Ibiza has gained a reputation as the home of the European music club scene but do not let that put you off, there is a lot more to Ibiza than that. If you spend time getting to know the real Ibiza you will discover a beautiful island, breath taking scenery and great beaches. A villa or apartment in Ibiza is the perfect base to explore this intriguing island. Exploring Ibiza Town will show you much of what the Island has to offer from history to chic shopping. In the old quarter you will find a maze of cobbled streets that leads up to the fortified cathedral - Ibiza Town is a World Heritage site. As you wander around the centre of Ibiza Town you will come across great bars, restaurants and of course fashion shops. Just a short ferry ride from Ibiza Town is Formentera which has fantastic beaches of its own. It is a relaxing and enjoyable day trip for all the family – if you have bikes take them with you as it is the easiest way to explore the island.

Ibiza weather / climate

Ibiza tops the Balearic Islands sunshine league with the most hours each year and tends to enjoy hot summers and mild winters. Although Ibiza has gained a reputation for being a summer hotspot, the island in Spring and Autumn afford the visitor cooler evenings, with quieter beaches and some delightful scenery.

Ibiza beaches

The best of Ibiza’s beaches can be found slightly away from the main resorts and mostly along the south and west coasts of the island. Suggestions include Cala Tarida, Cala Comte and Cala Jondal as well as several sandy coves on the outskirts of San Antonio.

What to do and see

Popular villa and apartment locations in Ibiza include villages in or near San Jose, San Lorenzo, San Augustin, San Antonio and San Carlos. As most of these villages are within a 20 minute drive of a town or a beach you are able to enjoy the benefits of a quiet location but close enough to the exciting nightlife.

Shopping and eating

Spanish supermarkets will normally stock everything you need. You will find that locally grown produce will be much cheaper but you can of course find most of the brands you would recognise from home. If you are looking for fashion shops then we recommend heading to Ibiza Town where the shops are open well into the night. If you are looking for a bargain head for the famous hippy market at Es Cana, with 100’s of stalls you will have plenty to choose from. If you are looking for something a little les s grand you can try the market at San Carlos on Saturdays. If you are looking to eat out then you will find a great selection of restaurants across Ibiza ranging from local delicacies to gourmet dining. You will find that all the resorts can cater for the most diverse tastes.

Golf and other sport activities

No information available.

You will find sailing, wind surfing and diving facilities (hiring and lessons) on the island.

Getting to and around Ibiza

Ibiza has its own International airport which is serviced by direct low cost, scheduled and charter flights throughout the week. Most of the resorts are within an hours drive of the airport Getting around Ibiza is easy by car as the island has a good road network with all the major towns and resorts within 1 hour of the airport.
